Incomplete applications will not be considered.Description Of Duties And ResponsibilitiesThis position is in the Community Health Division within the Drowning Prevention Program. This position reports to the Drowning Prevention Program Manager.

Scheduling and providing educational presentations to community partners throughout Broward County.

Schedule and provide outreach and education at community outreach events, including but not limited to bringing all resource materials to educate the public, and scheduling events to accommodate their schedule.

Facilitate Students Preventing Unintentional Drownings (S.P.U.D.) clubs at various schools and community outreach sites. The staff will be required to schedule meetings at the schools, educate the youth on becoming Water Smart Ambassadors, work with the students to create outreach events, and provide education and information to the clubs.

Provide logistical support to the Program Manager, attend community partner meetings, make copies, create documents, ordering supplies and schedule necessary appointments.

Create new initiatives pertaining to the current data and trend.

Assist with the planning of the annual South Florida Water Safety Symposium.

Participate in conference calls, meetings, presentations, and trainings as required.

Responsible for daily administrative duties including ordering supplies, creating info-graphics, creating agendas, entering data into spreadsheets and/or taking meeting minutes.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of the drowning prevention subject matter and current statistics.

Knowledge of Broward County Drowning Prevention resources.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Knowledge of Water Smart Broward website.

Ability to participate in the planning and implementing new initiatives.

Ability to accommodate working with a variety of different partners.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to prioritize work load.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to provide and/or participate in in-service and community education programs.

Ability to lift materials and work outside at times.


Valid driver’s license.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as determined by program needs.

Preferred Qualification

A minimum of one year experience performing community presentations and attending outreach events.
